Hydraulic Cylinder Welding: Ways and its Importance!
All kinds of machinery need care and repair after usage. Some machines don’t need it in the beginning. But when the frequency of usage increases then the wear and tear also increase automatically. It’s always better to take care of things to avoid the cost of buying a new one. All automobiles need servicing for smoother functioning of all its parts.
Result of Negligence can Cost more than Repair:
Hydraulic cylinders are quite an important part. As they provide a unidirectional force that helps in the proper functioning of the machinery. Regular usage of everything needs repair so does a hydraulic cylinder repair also need to be done. If problems occur even with regular maintenance: then precautions should be taken before any major destruction takes place.
Even while the hydraulic ram repair is being processed it’s important to keep the details in mind. The temperature of the flame of torch should not melt the metal. Mostly the cylinders are made up of stainless steel. Thus, the temperature for hydraulic cylinder welding should be around 1500 degrees Celsius.
Why welding is Important:
One also needs to be careful of the other parts present in the cylinder. If any rods or rings bend then the whole mechanism of the machinery might fail to work. Causing you heavy losses. The functioning of hydraulic cylinders is dependent upon three components.
These should be checked every Time the Maintenance is in process.
- Check is the rod has bent: if the rod is bent then the hydraulic cylinder won’t function. A rod bends when the rod seal failures to keep it intact. This majorly happens in the absence of proper lubrication or when loaded above a specific capacity of the machinery. Excessive pressure can lead to bends thus dropping the load at times.
- Seals, rings, and bearings: it’s the rings and seals that hold the device. The seal is to be checked at all stages of repair so that one small seal cannot damage the whole machinery. Lubrication of rings and seals can result in a better life of the device.
- The friction in the machinery increases after a prolonged period of usage and the rod becomes rough due to the friction. The use of lubrication reduces friction and decrease the load experienced by the machine. Also, the hydraulic fluid consumed by the machine decreases.
Conclusion:
A hydraulic cylinder is the heart of the machinery and one should ensure that proper steps are taken to maintain its components. Welding for hydraulics can save a lot of costs if done at the right time. But if ignored, it can cost the whole new machinery.
