How to Refresh Your Shop Design on a Budget

There are many benefits to redesigning your shop’s design, and it is why many established retailers will change their aesthetics, window displays, and furniture layout regularly.

The main motivated behind such change is customer interest, renewing the appeal of your business with a fresh experience, as well as serving to draw attention and create hype for new products and services. New customers may be drawn into your store for the first time with an appealing design and familiar faces will find themselves with revived and novel interest.

There are many ways to revitalise attention in your store. Media campaigns and new products can create buzz, drawing people into your store, with limited-time events, such as competitions, doing the same. A shop’s design, however, is a much more cost-effective method and, when done particularly well or with regularity, it can lead to significant improvement in custom and profits.

Many stores will change their displays and arrangements based upon the season. This isn’t only to match festive trends, swapping Halloween sign fittings for Christmas cards, but it is also to accommodate for different levels of customer traffic too since, occasionally, more floor space is needed for browsing instead of product displays.

Design On a Budget

When approaching your store’s design, you’ll quickly see how potentially expensive change can be. Retail furniture, light fixtures, and even paint can all quickly add up to a large bill. And, while these products are great investments, they aren’t necessary.

Working with items that you already have can make a huge difference to a store experience. Shuffling or removing furniture, can change or create space, giving your store a sense of newness. Changing your window displays more regularly, even weekly draws constant attention from passersby who may otherwise grow accustomed to your shopfront. Even something as simple as changing the designs or content of your cable displays can work well.

Single statement pieces, those with a bold design or from a local artist of interest, can be a single addition that changes the dynamics of the entire shop space. They also work exceedingly well as photographic backgrounds for products, which can encourage customers to take their own photos and share with others, which is a great way to advertise your business.

Be sure not to disregard recycled or upcycled products either. These can be low-cost and often unique, bringing character to your store. There are even companies that collect and recycle paint, which means, if you’re happy to be flexible with the exact colour, you’ll be able to repaint your store much more cheaply than if you were to buy brand new products. This kind of creativity will save you money and, with the right taste and consideration, will set your store apart from the monotony of many others.

Lighting is one of the most significant impressions made upon a space. Rearranging your store to welcome more natural light, or, in some cases, less, can totally change a space without having to install or redesign anything. Additionally, changing the position of your current electrical lights, dimming or brightening them, or even adding a few lamps of your own in various spots, can make a huge difference in the vitality of your shop, without breaking the bank.

So, when thinking about how to refresh your store, don’t immediately dread the cost. Instead, take time to get creative. There are plenty of ways to totally change your store and to do so effectively without breaking the bank.
